Citing Items in the IGDB
The International Games Database (IGDB) on GameCatalog.org aims to be an authoritative reference point for anyone interested in identifying a game. Therefore, the IGDB includes a uniform way to cite games, whether in web links or in other written descriptions.
The officially approved way to cite games in the IGDB is still pending. In the meantime, here is a sneak peak:
- For a publisher:
- A unique publisher identification number, of the form IGDB-P-#
- An associated web link

- For an individual game:
- A unique game identification number, of the form IGDB-G-#
- An associated web link
reference, www.gamecatalog.org/games/game.asp?IGDB-G-#
- Additional IGDB identifiers are planned to be established.
